چکیده

ABSTRACT We present an analysis of the kinematics and ionization conditions in a sample composed seven star-forming galaxies undergoing ram-pressure stripping A1367 cluster, galaxy ESO137–001 Norma cluster. MUSE observations two new this sample, CGCG097–073 CGCG097–079, are also presented. This is characterized by homogeneous integral field spectroscopy with consistent selection based on presence ionized gas tails. The ratio [O i]/H ? consistently elevated tails these objects compared to what observed unperturbed discs, ubiquitous feature which we attribute shocks or turbulent phenomena stripped gas. Compact regions only $\approx 50 {{\ \rm per\ cent}}$ tails, implying that specific (currently unknown) needed trigger star formation inside Focusing interface between interstellar intracluster medium, observe different line ratios associate stages process, at early stage perturbation showing more prominent signatures formation. Our analysis, thus, demonstrates power well selected infer general properties arising from local clusters.

Ram pressure stripping of the multiphase ISM in the Virgo cluster spiral galaxy NGC 4438

Ram pressure stripping of the multiphase ISM is studied in the perturbed Virgo cluster spiral galaxy NGC 4438. This galaxy underwent a tidal interaction ∼ 100 Myr ago and is now strongly affected by ram pressure stripping. Deep VLA radio continuum observations at 6 and 20 cm are presented. We detect prominent extraplanar emission to the west of the galactic center, which extends twice as far as...

The consequences of ram pressure stripping on the Virgo cluster spiral galaxy NGC 4522

New Hα Fabry-Perot interferometer observations of the Virgo cluster spiral galaxy NGC 4522 are presented. A velocity field up to a radius of 60 was obtained. The observed rotation curve is symmetric. It is not perturbed in the inner disk. For radii > 50 it shows a solid body rotation. We compare these data with a numerical model which includes the effects of ram pressure stripping. The model ca...

4 Ram Pressure Stripping in the Low Luminosity Virgo Cluster Elliptical Galaxy NGC 4476

We present a deep VLA search for HI emission from the low-luminosity Virgo Cluster elliptical galaxy NGC 4476, which contains 1.1×10 8 M ⊙ of molecular gas in an undisturbed disk in regular rotation. No HI was detected. The rms noise in the final image corresponds to a 3σ column density sensitivity of 1.2×10 20 cm −2 at the position of NGC 4476, averaged over the 4 kpc beam. The total HI mass i...

Ram pressure stripping of disk galaxies in galaxy clusters

While galaxies move through the intracluster medium of their host cluster, they experience a ram pressure which removes at least a significant part of their interstellar medium. This ram pressure stripping appears to be especially important for spiral galaxies: this scenario is a good candidate to explain the differences observed between cluster spirals in the nearby universe and their field co...

Galactic-scale Outtow and Supersonic Ram-pressure Stripping in the Virgo Cluster Galaxy Ngc 4388

The Hawaii Imaging Fabry-Perot Interferometer (HIFI) on the University of Hawaii 2.2m telescope was used to map the H and O III] 5007 emission-line prooles across the entire disk of the edge-on Sb galaxy NGC 4388, with resolution 40 { 60 km s ?1 and arcsecond sampling. This galaxy is projected only 300 kpc from the center of the Virgo cluster and is moving at 1,500 km s ?1 relative to the clust...
